Bae research group
We are interdisciplinary scientists using a variety of experimental and computational tools to study structure and function of proteins. Our goal is to determine the molecular basis of physical and chemical properties of biologically important proteins and its impact on organismal fitness.
In particular, we are interested in elucidating the mechanisms of bacterial antiphage defense systems including the CRISPR-Cas system, and the counteracting anti-CRISPR proteins.
We also investigate the basic principles of protein temperature adaptation for engineering them to be stable and functional at extreme temperatures.
