Interactions between plant RNA viruses and their hosts have emerged as a critically important research area in virus researches since whole genome sequences of several model plants were identified and used for studying virus-host interactions of viruses infecting plants or fungi, and their hosts.

We have been conducting researches on virus replication, identifying interaction between viral and/or host proteins, and on characterizing viral gene functions and host factors, which can be involved in virus replication or plant defense against virus infections.

Potato virus X (PVX), the type member of the genus Potexvirus, Soybean mosaic virus (SMV) and Pepper mottle virus (PepMoV), members of the genus Potyvirus, and mycoviruses are being used as model systems to further identify cis-acting elements and host factors contributing to virus replication, symptom expression, virion assembly and host defences.

These studies will shed light on our understanding on virus-host interaction as well as replication.
