The measurable amounts of Chinese pollutant(PM2.5) are transported via the atmosphere to other countries, including Korea and the Japan. Air pollution due to PM2.5 emission has arisen as an important social issue for countries in Northeast Asia. However, a large fraction of Chinese emissions is due to manufacture of goods for Korean and Japanese consumption. Accordingly China's production-based regulatory policy can not only be a fundamental solution, but alos Korea and Japan's consumption-based regulatory policy is another alternative.

This study examines how production-based regulation and consumption-based regulation in each country(Korea, Japan, and China) affect the economies and air quality of each country.

To evaluate the economic impacts of environmental policies, we develop an Multi-national computable general equilibrium (CGE). PM2.5 CGE model is consists of economic module, emission module, and Atmospheric transport module. Using the PM2.5 CGE model, we study the direct and indirect effects of imposing production-based regulation in each country for PM2.5 as well as consumption-based regulation.
¿¬±¸°á°ú
The results show that the economic effect of production-based and consumption-based environmental policies differs by country by sector.
