¿¬±¸Á¦¸ñ: The effects of PM on outdoor activities of national park users – the case study of South Korea

The level of PM in South Korea deserves an immediate attention which is ranked as the highest among the OECD member counties. It is common that weather forecast informs the level of PM every day and cautioning citizens to avoid outdoor activities and wear masks on high PM concentration. PM alters human behaviors, and changed the landscape of tourism and recreation. This paper aims to analyze the effects of PM on the number of visitors to 22 national parks in South Korea.
¿¬±¸¹æ¹ý
The study period is spring and autumn from 2010 to 2018, the months of the highest number of visitors a year. Panel model is employed to control for the park-specific characteristics.
¿¬±¸°á°ú
As an early study on the effect of PM on human outdoor activities, the findings of this study will identify factors that directly affect the behavior of hikers and will help evaluate environmental policies and protection.
