The purpose of this study is to empirically investigate the relationship between domestic and overseas factors and pm 2.5 concentration. Especially, we focused on diesel cars that are at the center of the controversy because gas emitted by diesel vehicles has a high level of nitrogen oxide and pm 2.5. Also, It is necessary to pay attention to emissions from the combustion process related to manufacturing production as an additional domestic factor.

Panel model is employed using the data of PM2.5 level for three years (2015 to 2017) for 17 provinces in Korea.

The number of registered diesel engine vehicles, manufacturing production index, and PM2.5 concentration of three provinces (Hebei, Shandong, and Jiangsu) in China are closely related to the PM2.5 concentration in Korea. The number of registered diesel engine vehicles has the highest correlation with the PM2.5 concentrations than other domestic factors.
