The next WRF Tutorial class will be held: 30 January - 7 February, 2017.
The Basic WRF Tutorial will be held during the first week. During the second week, there will be a 2-day WRF Chemistry class. Both sessions will consist of lectures and hands-on practice sessions. Participants can choose to attend just one of the tutorials, or both tutorials.

LOCATION: NCAR Foothills Laboratory, Boulder, Colorado, USA
HOSTS: NCAR MMM Laboratory

TUTORIAL FOCUS:
1. BASIC WRF tutorial (30 January - 3 February, 2017)
This tutorial will consist of lectures on various components of the WRF modeling system for the Advanced Research WRF (WRF-ARW), along with hands-on practice sessions. The topics include:
- WRF Pre-processing System
- WRF Dynamics and Numerics
- WRF Physics
- WRF Software Framework
- Post-Processing and Graphical Tools

2. WRF-Chem tutorial (6-7 February, 2017)
This tutorial will provide lectures on main components of the model and associated tools, along with hands-on practice sessions. The lectures will cover the following topics:
- Set-up and running WRF-Chem
- Emissions data tools for use in WRF-Chem
- Photolysis and gas chemistry mechanisms in WRF-Chem
- Aerosols in WRF-Chem
- Dust parameterizations in WRF-Chem
- Biogenic, lightning NOx and fire emissions in WRF-Chem
- Chemical data assimilation methods
Users may attend this tutorial without attending the basic WRF tutorial; however, a basic understanding of the WRF model is required to make full use of the WRF-Chem tutorial.

Due to the constraints of physical space and computers, we can only accommodate a maximum of 60 participants for the WRF basic tutorial, and 40 participants for WRF-Chem.
Register early, as registration always exceeds capacity!
