Greetings,
This is Heesang Hong.
I am making this post to inform you that I will be presenting for this week's seminar (2/29).
The paper I have selected is
"L-selectin Is Essential for Delivery of Activated CD8+ T Cells to Virus-Infected Organs for Protective Immunity".
It was published on Cell Reports, in 2016.
The role L-selectin plays in the homing of activated CD8+ T cells to virus-infected organs has been much debated due to the cyclic nature of L-selectin expression by activated CD8+ T cells.
This paper suggests that L-selectin, in fact, plays a crucial role. Findings which back up this suggestion are presented clearly within the paper.
Furthermore, it is proposed that the level of cell-surface L-selectin may determine the extent of anti-viral immunity.
With possible applications, such as in the field of adoptive cell therapy for tumor treatment, I believe the findings from this paper surely are interesting.
