이번 주 발표를 맡게된 도빈입니다.

이번 논문은 2021년 nature immunology에 출판된 'Selenium-GPX4 axis protects follicular helper T cells from ferroptosis' 입니다.

Follicular helper T cell (Tfh)은 humoral immunity 에 있어서 중요한 역할을 담당하고 있으며 특히 germinal center B cell (GCBC) 분화와 antibody 형성에 필수적이라고 알려져 있습니다.

Tfh response 를 증가시키는 것은 vaccine efficacy 와 직결된다고 볼 수 있기에 Tfh homeostasis 는 매우 중요합니다.

Gpx4는 cell intrinsic 하게 lipid peroxidation, ROS 를 감소시켜 ferroptosis 를 조절한다고 알려져 있는데, adaptive immune cell 중 CD8 T cell, B cell (B1 cell, MZ B cell)에서는 Gpx4 가 이러한 역할을 한다고 알려져 있지만 CD4 T cell 특히, Tfh 에서는 아직 알려져 있지 않습니다.

이 논문에서는 Gpx4 가 cell intrinsic 하게 Tfh 의 cell death, ferroptosis 를 조절하여 Tfh response, vaccine efficacy 가 증가하는 mechanism 을 mouse 그리고 human 에서 밝힌 논문입니다.

제 연구에서 논리적 흐름과 방향성 선정에 도움을 얻고자 선정하였습니다.
