Our Lab has studied bio-engineering applied to biology or biological systems of plant, animal and human. Especially, our Lab focuses on the stem cell and tissue engineering, and development of bioreactors in views of biomechanics.
The current research projects of our Lab are followings:
Development of bio-stimuli techniques for stem cell and tissue engineering
- Micro-current electrical stimuli, Ultrasound stimuli, Magnetic fields stimuli, and Electromagnetic fields stimuli Application of bio-stimuli applied to stem cells
- Stimulation of micro-electric current and ultrasound on the dental pulp stem cells for tooth tissue engineering
- Stimulation of ultrasound, magnetic fields, and electromagnetic fields on the alveolus bone stem cells for tooth tissue engineering Development of novel biocompatible scaffolds for tissue engineering and its application with bio-stimuli and stem cells
Development of carbon nanomaterials (e.g., graphene, carbon nanotube)-based artificial ECM for stem cell and tissue engineering
Development of a biocompatible scaffold for tissue engineering and its application for regulation of cells electrically
Development of novel nano-fibrous scaffolds for tissue engineering
Development of tissue engineered artificial eardrums using nano-technology and stem cells (with Ajou University, School of Medicine)
Development of novel bone cements for tooth regeneration (with Seoul National University, School of Dentistry)
Development of a novel electrospinning system for tissue engineering
Development of a novel perfusion bioreactor for tissue engineering
Development of novel 3D culture systems with bio-stimuli for tissue regeneration in vitro
Therefore, we expect that our novel bio-stimuli techniques, scaffolds, and bioreactors will be able to provide suitable microenvironments to stem cells, tissues, and organs in vitro for regulating and enhancing stem cell functions as well as tissue regeneration.
Further, our Lab provides the undergraduate courses such as Biomechanics, Material Engineering for Biological Application, Bio-Thermodynamics, and the graduate courses such as Topics in Biomechanics of Tissue Engineering and Topics in Material Engineering for Biological Application. These courses will provide more interests to you for our researches.
We look forward to knowing anyone who has strong enthusiasm and interest for our Lab. We always will be able to provide lots of great opportunities to them. We strongly believe that our researches will be able to produce many significant results in biological engineering for real world.
Please do not hesitate to contact me, if you have any questions or want to know more information in our Lab.
Thank you.
