Abstract 
 The aerodynamic study on ventilation of agricultural buildings has not been conducted
very actively while ventilation is considered as one of the most important factors for livestock as well
as plant environmental control. Because of disadvantages of conducting field experiment, some
indirect methods such as tracer gas, wind-buoyancy model, energy balance model, etc were
performed, however, those methods could not precisely clarify the cause of locally poor internal
environment of agricultural buildings. It indicated that aerodynamic analysis should be performed to
systematically and scientifically design as well as manage the overall system. Moreover, using this
technology, it is possible to develop optimum mutual system of agricultural buildings considering
HVAC suitable for seasonal climates of Korea. Through this paper, wind tunnel that is one of the
typical tools of aerodynamic study was introduced. It can be used for the studies on development of
structural and ventilating designs while it has been actively used for the studies of Aerospace,
Mechanical, Civil, and Architectural Engineering for last century. A multi-purposed large-sized wind
tunnel was built at National Agricultural Mechanization Research Institute in Korea on October 24,
2000. Currently, it has been optimized for the aerodynamic study of agriculture such as boundary
layers of wind speed, turbulence, power spectrum, etc.
