Introduction
Hak-Jin Kim is a Professor of Biosystems Control and Precision Agriculture in the Department of Biosystems Engineering (BSE) at Seoul National University (SNU), and currently serves as the Associate Dean of Planning and Coordination.  Major researches he has worked on include soil nutrient sensing based on ion-selective electrodes (ISEs) for precision agriculture and the development of an ISE-based hydroponic nutrient controller for plant factory. He is currently working on the design of path planning and tracking algorithms for auto-guidance of Korean tractors and combine harvesters, and the development of an intelligent management system for plant nutrients and environment required in closed systems. Born in Korea, Hak-Jin received his B.S. and M.S. degrees in agricultural engineering from SNU in Korea and his Ph.D. degree in biological engineering from University of Missouri at Columbia in U.S.A. Before joining the faculty at SNU, he was an Agricultural Engineering Researcher in the Rural Development Administration (RDA) to develop agricultural machinery suitable to Korean farming conditions. He has also worked as a Senior Research Engineer at Daewoo Automobile Company before joining the government researcher position at the RDA. He currently serves as the Associate Editor of General Affairs for Engineering for Agriculture, Environment, and Food.  Hak-Jin participated in the Event of 2013 CIGR Next Leaders.
